There's a funny story about this. I have a baby gate that my father used with my sister 25 years ago. I'm 11 years older than my sister. Anyhow, after a 2 & a half decades, this gate was all done. So, I ordered this new gate. To my surprise the new one looks identical to the old one. I mean it's the same exact gate. The original was used for my sister, my oldest whose 13 now & my nephew who Is fostered about 5 years ago. So I can only assume the new gate will be around for years & years to come.

We needed a gate for a spot that once we installed the gate we would not move it again. This gate worked perfectly. It has teh old style metal clip for the adjustment sticks (in other reviews people said tehy liked the metal clip better). Once it's rammed into an opening, it's fairly secure. Plastic mesh - luckily it has not occured to my dog to chew it - and wood for the frame. My dog is 70+ pounds. It keeps him in. He has not jumped on it yet, mainly cause he is an animal and not that smart. If he jumped on it once, it would hold. If he jumped on it constantly, it would fall apart.

I got this gate because my dog and the dog we're currently fostering haven't been getting along, and I needed a way to separate them at times without totally shutting one in another room or crating them. This is perfect. I was worried that it'd be too hard to set up, because I vaguely remember never being able to figure these out when I babysat. But it only took a few minutes. I agree with other people that it'd be a good idea to mark the correct notch (my door was 30 inches). Careful not to force the wood lever thing or it'll snap (this didn't happen to me, I could just see how it could happen). This was up in a few minutes and was very sturdy. The dogs are both labs, so I was afraid they'd simply jump over it, but they didn't! I just put one in the other room (with a clear sight-line to us), calmly locked the gate into place, said "stay here," and walked away. The foster dog didn't move at all. I will say that if you plan to have to cross this a lot, then I'd probably spring for the bolt-in ones that are a bit more permanent. This one would get annoying to step over all the time and/or to dismantle a lot. But if you're looking to use it sporadically or in an out-of-the-way room, I recommend this one! And you can't beat the price.

I bought these gates as a bit of an experiment. I wanted to see if I could modify them to keep the new puppy contained in a tiled area while we're not home/he's house training AND let the cat through as she wished. So far it has been a success! I cut in a basic rectangle with ordinary house scissors, marking the areas I wanted to cut with a marker and ruler beforehand. The diamond mesh is plastic, so it cut easily. If you are not careful about how you cut, you may leave plastic prongs which could snag on kitty's fur, so to combat that, we used the cut out segment to create an even age (you can glue it/tie it to the gate) and as an extra precaution, wrapped a 1/2 inch of felt along the rectangle (glue, sew, whatever). It all took about ten minutes. These gates have perfectly fit our needs and saved us a lot of money. The metal gates with cat doors are around $40-$80 apiece! Things to keep in mind: 1. They are wood and plastic. While they are super sturdy, if your dog is a heavy chewer, you might have some problems. In that case, you would want to splurge for a metal one. 2. We bought these for a temporary situation. If you're going to use them long term, remember the size your dog will grow to be (he might outgrow the gate!)

We love these so much! We have a sneaky pup on our hands that likes to go potty in the corners of rooms late at night. But we like to keep the doors open for good circulation so these are an excellent way to keep doors open, while keeping the pup out! Very easy to use. Very sturdy. Excellent product for the price!

Got this gate to separate my new puppy from my roommates dog since they didn't get along. Worked great and once I got the right setting for the wall, it held really well. My Pomeranian would jump and push against it and it would not budge. My boyfriend went to step over them and unfortunately, kicked the gate and bent the metal pieces so that it no longer stayed together right when folded up and even then, when I set it up, it still held tight. I did eventually throw my gate away because my roommate moved out so I no longer needed it but the gate held even with the dogs jumping at it and it being broken.

Nothing beats the reliability of this staple. It is sturdy, does not damage walls or paint, and can be relocated to any doorway(or hallway walls for that matter). Wish there were one that extends to 52 inches.

I wasn't going to review a product that already had a ton of reviews already, but I felt it was unfair for some reviewers to get mad about such a cheap product not living up to their expectations. Yes, it's cheap. At least for me, it has been really sturdy. I bought three (one at my house and two at my father's, since he watches my son occasionally), and I've walked into it twice. Because I'm dumb. The second time I pushed it through the doorway and bent it pretty bad, but it still works. The plastic is really forgiving and went back to it's original shape. My son will sometimes get a hold of it when it's not preventing him access to something, and he is really good at taking it off the "tracks." It's annoying but it goes back together easily. I think for the price this gate works amazingly well.

I use a baby gate for my dog to keep her in our laundry room when my husband and I are at work. This is a very sturdy gate and I like it a lot. The only thing is that the wood in the picture is darker than the actual product, but that did not matter to me. You can’t beat the price , either!

I had to have a friend show me how to open...push up on the metal clip on the right side...duh... I use it stacked above a pet gate I bought, since my cat can jump over the other one. This one is easily removed when I need access to her room.
