Used this product to check power to switched and un-switched fuses in my car, to hard wire my dash cam using an add a fuse. Worked great identifying the proper fuse receptacle and the hot and load terminal. Essential tool for any automotive electrical work.

Works fine. Appears to be sturdy with a decently long cord and everything attached the way they ought to be. HOWEVER, the light is no where near as bright as the pics show. Not by a long shot. The light bulb is what sets the voltage limits for this tool. And the pics imply that the cord is somehow detachable? Nope.

I recently purchased an auxiliary light kit for my motorcycle. In order to avoid battery drain, one of the power connections goes to a "switched" wire. I used this voltage tester in the connection block going to tail light, which is switched. II found the wire I needed in seconds probing into the female connector sockets and confirming by turning on/off the lights. Perfect.

Impressed by the length, gauge and material of the cord and overall ruggedness of it. You can use this to check your ignition module by seeing how far the spark will jump from the plug wire, you can check both by distance and light brightness and you cant do that with an led type. These are best device for checking fuses in no time, hook the clip to gnd and on each fuse you will see a little tiny solder bump above each pin, just touch it with the ultra sharp point and watch the light. If your looking fo a blown fuse this is fastest way, go right down the line. I check 20 fuses in under 1 min. I've dropped this and banged it several times it wont break. Theres valid complaints on the crimping and soldering but com'on this id delivered to your door for 10$, how hard is it to fix a crimp or add some solder? Be careful the metal tip is a home defense weapon, this is hard hard metal and its razor sharp, it will easily cut deep into a finger or go straight thru you on a slip and fall. I have a large knife and gun collection but I ground down the tip for safety reason, Im sure you can put it right thru the hood or door/fenders on your car. Use it aw well to gnd othe light bulbs or coils, this can work just like a switch all the time and led types have problems doing that.

If you have something draining the battery in an old car, use this. Disconnect the ground and connect this to the battery and ground. If something is drawing power, this now lights up. Then pull out fuses until whatever is running stops lighting up this sensitive light.

I bought this to finish out a gift card and really wasn't planning to use it much. However, this little tester is great. If all I need to know is if the circuit is on or off this is quick and easy. The large clamp works well and the long cable length enables me to move between points along the circuit as I look for problems. The point on the tester is very sharp so I can push through corrosion. FYI... we use it on a boat not a car.

I received this and the very next day I had an opportunity to use, sigh. RV fuse went bad and it was very easy to identify with this tool. Swapped out fuse for a new one and every thing is working fine. Interesting that the fuse did not visually show a break but the current tester identified the problem.

Very simple and easy to use. Clip the alligator clip onto something metal (to ground it) and then touch the probe (careful, fairly sharp) to where you want to detect current. Used this for some wiring in my car for a back-up camera. Can't attest to its durability since I haven't owned it that long but it was cheap and it works. Bottom Line: Would recommend for anyone needing a cheap but effective voltage tester. Would buy again

Well built tester especially for the price. Not cheap junk. I have zero complaints. Except it isn't a continuity tester, I don't know why they advertise it as such.

Excellent tester. Actually was a lot more professional quality than I had expected. Heavy duty and durable for the same price as many lower quality models. Thank you very much. Very speedy arrival. I am very happy with my choice.
