The latest in the Ellie Jordan series is ok
I came to this series a couple years ago, grabbing up the first and quickly falling in love with the story. I read the first, second, third... grabbing up the next in line as quickly as I finished one. It’s not great literature, but it is a fun ride with an interesting storytelling style and premies, and decent characters. It’s not perfect, but it’s still fun. There is an encompassing thread that ties Ellie’s life together: how she got into ghost hunting, why she’s scared of relationships and commitment, and why she’s so passionate about rounding up ghosts and protecting people. Anton Clay, her nemesis, is always leaking somewhere, be it in the back of her mind, or actually in the rafters and holes of somewhere haunted. His passion for fire a threat to Ellie. So when author Bryan sets us up in the previous book for their final showdown I was looking forward to the outcome (I sadly didn’t like that book as much as previous ones either). So, ok, nope, it didn’t fulfill my hopes for the outcome. I won’t give anything away, but I will say this book wanders as aimlessly and unfocused as the characters within. All those previous books had been a fun read, something for the beach or tub or Sunday afternoons, but good, tight stories. This one (as with the previous) seems to have become too lost in trying to figure out the ending. If you’re an Ellie fan yes, you have to read it. But if you come away disappointed... hey, I still look forward to what’s next for Ellie and her team, but yea, I’m disappointed in how this played out.
AN AWESOME READ!!!
Fire Devil was an AWESOME, AWESOME READ!! Start to finish, it was totally hard to set down. It's very hard to write a review about this fascinating book, without giving away all the things that will happen, from the beginning to the very end....sigh... The chase is on to find Anton Clay and stop him from starting more fires and claiming more souls!! Stacey, Jacob, Michael, Melissa and a new addition to the group, Tucker Nealon, all guided by Ellie to chase down Anton. Definitely a book, you won't want to lay down, until the very end!!
Another great book in the ghost trapper series
I am a huge fan of the ghost trapper series, and this is another great book in that series. The story continues the arc of Ellie's conflict with the fiery ghost of Anton Clay, so this time, the haunting is personal. The characterization is wonderful and in fact, I got so concerned about the characters that I peeked at the ending. I am not going to reveal anything about that, though, so I won't spoil it. As you might guess from my last comment, the suspense is superb. I really love Ellie and her often snarky comments. She is a wonderful character. I do recommend you read the series from the beginning to get the most out of it and get a real view of the character arc for Ellie. You don't have to because the story can stand on its own, but it does lend some depth to it to know what has gone on in the past. The writing is clear and unobtrusive and the story is a lot of fun and exciting. I loved it.
At long last, the fiery showdown between ghost hunter Ellie Jordan and pyrokinetic ghost Anton Clay.
At long last, the fiery showdown between ghost hunter Ellie Jordan and her nemesis, pyrokinetic ghost Anton Clay. Anton Clay has been killing for hundreds of years. Ellie was the only one to have escaped his fiery deaths, her parents not being as lucky. It's been over a decade and now that he has possessed her boyfriends sister she and her ragtag team plus an exorcist from Texas drive cross country to catch up with Anton for the final showdown. This is such a great paranormal series that equally blends spooky and at times downright scary with humor. I am curious to see how finally defeating the entity that killed her family and shaped what she became will change Ellie.
Sequel to The Monster Museum!
This is the sequel to #10, The Monster Museum, and helps tie up some loose ends. It was an exciting ride from start to finish, with plenty of ghosts and danger for all involved. It also introduced a new character, to help them with exorcising Anton Clay from the body and soul of Melissa. I hope that there are more adventures for Ellie and her gang in the future.
Ellie does it again!
This is a fabulous series. Ellie has had her own personal ghost issues that have tormented her but get resolved in this book. The Monster Museum was one of the creepist cases Ellie has had to deal with so I was eager to see how the problems that arose during that case would get resolved. The story couldn't have been tied up better. J.L. Bryan knows how to keep readers on the edge of their seats. Thanks for a wonderful reading experience. Looking forward to more of Ellie's and Stacey's adventures.
Fabulous ghostly adventure
The Ellie Jordan, Ghost Trapper series consists of eleven books. The author is a genius at creating spooky and intriguing settings for each book. If you enjoy dangerous, paranormal adventure from the safety of your chair, this series is for you. The characters including the ghosts are relatable in their strengths and flaws. History and folklore are woven into the stories. After eleven books, I am going to miss Ellie Jordan.
Fire đ„
Thoroughly enjoyed this one as a satisfying not quite end of the series. I do miss Hayden or Hoff. Also would like to see more of Tucker. And must they be so snotty towards those characters? And can we go after Stacey's personal ghost? She sounds creepy as all get out. If you have missed this series, get it and settle in for some good old fashioned scares with some history mixed in. Just enough to be informative without getting bogged down. Well done!
Loved it
I found this installment of the Ellie Jordan books to be really interesting and a great ending to the Anton Clay story. It seemed for sure to be the ending of the series, which I was sad about, but I saw after finishing the book that he does plan to continue the series so I'm happy about that. I've been reading about Ellie Jordan for so long now that I feel she's part of my family! Can't wait to see what's in store next.
Wow and WOW...
So hard to put down. It was hard to determine what would happen to the very very end of the book. I loved how it ended though - and what an awesome series I sure hope the series is not over.. I have grown to love this series... except for one book....
